Biography
Abhinav Mehta is an Associate Lecturer in Statistics and Actuarial Studies. He is also an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia. Abhinav is currently completing his PhD in Statistics, where he is using longitudinal data analysis to understand the effect of non-custodial sentences on recidivism. Abhinav’s research interests also include medical statistics, biostatistics and meta-analysis. His medical statistics research has been published in the Journal of American College of Cardiology.

Research engagement
Abhinav is an active member and Assessor of the ANU Higher Education Academy fellowship program. He has participated in many of the annual professional development sessions organised by the ANU Higher Education Academy team.
Abhinav is also an Academic Supervisor in the CBE Internship program, since 2017. This allows him the opportunity to interact and guide highly motivated students to achieve their best in their internship program.
Teaching
Abhinav has taught a variety of courses in Actuarial Studies and Statistics including Regression Modelling, Life Contingencies, Financial Mathematics, Introduction to Mathematical Statistics and Multivariate Analysis. Abhinav is passionate about his teaching and always looks at opportunities to advance his skills as an effective teacher. He is genuinely interested in cultivating a better understanding of statistics in his students and thereby producing a greater appreciation of the subject. He became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2015.
