INVESTING IN TOMORROW'S FINANCIAL LEADERS

Students in the ANU Student Managed Fund take responsibility for over $0.8 million worth of investments, reflecting donations made to the University with the intent that the funds be managed by students and are used to support philanthropic activities. The course provides students with a unique opportunity for deep ‘activity-based’ learning, with the purpose of funding a scholarship for disadvantaged students. The primary task of students is to make investment recommendations to be reviewed and endorsed by an Investment Advisory Committee (IAC) which includes top industry practitioners. They are mentored by two Convenors who are ANU staff members. Students also undertake the day-to-day functions of a professionally managed fund, providing a hands-on introduction to the investment industry and counted as a fully accredited University course.
